Started by Tania Blanco and Moe Hargrow in June of 2015
It was started by them in their community in order to give the kids of this community a better, more positive opportunity to stay away from the streets. Team Select is a Bronx-based basketball team catering to young men and women from the Bronx, Manhattan and Harlem. In addition to excelling in basketball, the team requires.all individuals to maintain high standards of Sportsmanship, academic excellence and physical fitness. Every player has to set his own goals and be accountable for them with the coaches.
They pride themselves in instilling an A.L.L.S.T.A.R mentality which requires Academics, Leadership, Legacy, Sacrifice, Time, Achievements and Respect.
Coach Moe Hargrow
Born and raised in the Bronx. A member of Cadet Corps where he played AAU Basketball until High School and beyond. He attended Salesian HS and graduated Valedictorian from Bronx Regional HS. Attended Benedict College in South Carolina where he studied Criminal Justice. Currently is Co-Director and Co-Founder of Team Select NYC and coaches several age groups within the program.
Coach Tania Blanco
Born and raised in the Bronx. Graduated from St. Catherine's Academy where she played 3 sports: Volleyball, Basketball and Softbal l. Attended Lehman College her freshman year and then went to attend Hunter College where she played under Coach Jackee Meadow and won 3 CUNY Titles and saw 3 NCAA Tournaments. She majored in Sociology with a minor in Psychology and English. She has coached all levels of sport and is currently assisting Volleyball, Basketball and Softball programs in the private school league. She is the Co-Founder and Director of Team Select NYC, where she overlooks all program scheduling, budget, social media advertising and coaching her HS teams, both Ladies and Gents.
